The Resort

Given that it was our first time in the province of Bohol, we wanted to combine all the great things we’ve read and heard about it into a single trip for an experience we can truly be proud of. That includes engaging in activities that will get us as close as possible to the beach, forest and of course, the Chocolate Hills. While we did find the beaches attractive, what really caught our attention during our research was this 3-star resort right by the river, the only one of its kind in Loboc, that would already give us two out of three items in our list.

Just by its name, Loboc River Resort gives the impression of a raw and laid-back experience once in the property. And can we just say, it was precisely that and even more in many aspects! How often can you find a resort that has animals casually circling about the premises? Or that has that much trees and tropical greenery and rooms standing over an actual river? While we were not able to go out as much as we probably should, since almost everything we were looking for was right in the resort anyway, we experienced the gracious hospitality of the staff and the locals. They were eager to help us out whenever we needed, and mostly out of their own initiative. Checking in, we were provided refreshing welcome drinks which only made us love the resort more even from the get-go.

If anyone’s looking for a great peaceful resort with great local food, unparalleled hospitality and a variety of nature-friendly holiday activities, Loboc River Resort sure is the one.

It’s not everyday you can boast of staying in a nipa hut right by the river. The resort offers nothing less with its River View Suite, draped in comforting browns and greens that will truly make any guest feel life in the wild. Suited for 2-3 persons, the only two rooms of this category can be combined to fit bigger families or groups of friends. The room has a mini bar, a living area, cable TV and DVD player, custom-made closet, air-conditioner and fan, bathtub, hot and cold shower, FREE one hour use of kayak and complimentary coffee and tea. What more can you ask for?

With the facilities of the previous room, the Forest View Room offers another important side of Bohol and the resort that easily fascinates travellers looking to encounter a piece of wilderness on land. Bask in the refreshing air right from the forest which you can definitely get used to seeing from your bedroom. Some parts of the wall are also painted with calming images of bamboo and lilies to help get you into the nature experience.

Filipino dishes are great in the city, but more so in the province. And surely, this can be attested by most travellers who’ve been to both. At the resort’s on-site open-air restaurant, you’ll taste the best of these through a la carte menus while being served by efficient staff. Enjoy an array of fresh seafood, meat, vegetables, desserts and refreshing banalungay and pinalungay fruit shakes while taking in the view of the river and the local neighbourhood.

Whether you have experience or not, you can easily paddle your way along one of the safest and cleanest rivers in the Philippines. After all, the resort’s Stand Up Paddle Boarding was recently voted for the number 2 spot on AirAsia’s to-do list when in Bohol. Simply book your package of choice, depending on how long you want the experience to be, with the help of well-trained personnel based in the local community. For more convenience and the best price, you can add this right during the booking of your rooms. If you schedule on the later hours of the day, you can end your tour by watching the dancing fireflies as they light up the river at dark.

Things To Do

That’s right! Loboc River Resort is one of the very few resorts where you can actually get fit not through a gym, but the very surrounding itself. If you prefer a subtle exercise, do some jogging within the nine-hectare property. Or, take it up a notch higher and trek through the tropical greenery. You can also play competitive sports like table tennis and volleyball or practice your rhythm by calling a Zumba dancing session!

Fun Facts Fun Facts

1. Up close with nature and wildlife

2. High tide friendly

3. Consistent level of excellence

The resort provides opportunities not only for seeing, but actually interacting with different animals in the resort. These include feeding monkeys, ducks and chickens, riding a buffalo, watching birds fly or stop by and catching some fish from the Loboc River itself. Whichever you choose to do, the resort promises a unique experience other properties are not even close to providing in the area.

Being so close to a body of water, the resort is bound to have some issues along the way. But good for the property, experiencing high tide is somewhat less of a problem as it should be. Once the water enters the resort’s grounds, it brings along a few small fishes to the delight of its guests who really look forward to being close to nature.

Loboc River Resort is proud to receive FOUR Certificates of Excellence in a row from 2013 to 2017 courtesy of TripAdvisor. Every two years since 2013, the resort has also been voted as a Travellers’ Choice. Who can blame them? The resort’s unique features and excellent level of service truly make them a must-visit in Bohol!
